Munyankindi Felicien is a genocide perpetrator from Eastern Province, Kayonza district, Rukara sector.  He was talking to the young Rwandans about how genocide ideologies were incited in Rwandans and he was encouraging them to be critical thinkers in everything .

Peace Education Initiative has been working closely with local administration to enhance the ongoing efforts in the area of unity and reconciliation. Peacedu has been gathering genocide perpetrators and genocide survivors in rural areas to have a discussion with the overall purpose of helping young generation to understand how genocide happened and the devastating effect of poor leadership especially when it is coupled with destructive propaganda. These kinds of sessions are the real learning opportunities to uphold critical thinking instead of blindly following orders from superiors. Genocide perpetrators give testimonies on how they live harmoniously with Genocide survivors. In return, genocide survivors testify how they have forgiven those who killed their families. Both sides eventually conclude by urging young people to always build peace where they are, avoid genocide ideologies and other kinds of atrocity that may lead to the mass killing that Rwanda experienced.

Those who perpetrated genocide use these meeting opportunities to ask again forgiveness not only to genocide survivors but also to the entire Rwandan community because their coward acts betrayed our traditional values that bind us together. These meetings that Peacedu leads have a concrete impact especially on young generations because they learn how genocide happened while appreciating at the same time efforts invested in the path towards the unity and reconciliation.
